How to Get More Google Reviews: 5 Ways That Work
Most happy customers never write a review, not because they refuse, but because it simply doesn't occur to them. If you're wondering how to get more Google reviews, the answer is not to wait for organic luck: an active approach achieves in months what chance collects in years. Five ways, ordered by effort.
1. Make leaving a review as easy as possible
The biggest lever is the smallest one: the direct review link. In your Google Business Profile, under “Ask for reviews”, you'll find a short link that takes customers straight to the review form, no searching. That link belongs in your email signature, on the invoice, in the appointment confirmation: everywhere the customer is already looking.
2. Ask at the right moment, in person
The request works best right after a positive experience: after a successful appointment, at handover, at the till. One sentence is enough: “If you were happy with us, a Google review helps us a lot.” Important: ask for an honest review, never a good one; incentives or discounts for reviews violate Google's policies and put the whole profile at risk.
3. Use your location: QR codes
A QR code on the counter, the menu, the receipt or the company vehicle turns waiting time into review time. The code leads to the same direct review link: no searching, no typing.
4. Reply to every review
Visible owner replies make future customers more willing to write one themselves: people can see that feedback is read and lands. Positive reviews deserve two honest sentences, critical ones a matter-of-fact reply. The structure is shown in our guide to responding to negative Google reviews.
5. Plan your base with a campaign
Ways 1–4 work continuously but slowly, and they presuppose an ongoing flow of customers. When a profile needs a base (a new opening, few reviews, strong local competition), a campaign with real guests complements them: testers visit your business or take the digital tour, review honestly, and you check every proof before it counts. Why the mix of volume and recency tips the scales is explained in our guides on the number of reviews and on review recency.
Honest reviews. Testers decide content and stars. Nothing on this page promises a review or a ranking.
